Thin Films for the physical and life sciences in high-technology applications.


BioNano gold thin films are grown in controlled high vacuum deposition systems using a magnetron sputtering technique. Details on the deposition technique can be found here. Prior to deposition, the glass microscope slides are cleaned with a plasma procedure. The gold source targets are made of pure gold 99.99% and pure titanium 99.995%. The typical gold thickness we provide is 10, 50 and 100 nm. We can grow films with different thickness upon request. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have a request for a special gold geometry.

Thin Film Quality

The surface quality of the thin films is tested using atomic force microscopy (AFM). We measure a typical surface roughness lower than 2 nm over 10 x 10 mm2 During the production process, the surface quality of our films is regularly controlled.
